Message I agree my argument is based on hyperbole. Most guys out here don't really appreciate an engineer's precision... er, I mean accuracy ;)

I did say reliability is proportional to high rpm, not loads. My turbo didn't die at idle or cruising on the highway. It died under max boost at high rpm. I assume higher rpm increases overall engine stresses more than typically daily driving through higher temps, pressures, and overall bearing wear (including all associated problems like brittle wires and hoses, etc.). Otherwise a track car run below redline would have exactly the same reliability as a daily driver. For those components which aren't affected like timing belt, water pump, crappy injectors, corroded connectors, faulty speed sensor, rear main seal, faulty oil sending unit, PCV, faulty VTC gears, etc. base reliability would be unaffected by rpm. The higher rpm fleet wide sensitivities are completely overshaddowed by these vast majority of mundane problems we contend with but I'm convinced there is a relationship with rpm.

The mundane problems aside the base vg30dett engine does seem very robust up through redline. And I for one intend to prove this out. You're a fun guy Kent. Thanks for clarifying.
